They say a man’s first love is his mother. She will ultimately define what attractive is in his mind. For instance, my mother is a beautiful, confident, professional, spiritually guided woman. The most attractive characteristic a woman can possess in my mind is confidence. After all of the other attributes fizzle out, confidence is the one thing that always keeps a man’s attention.
As a society we are extremely sexual. Sex sells everything from shoes to soda so I guess some women believe that it will also help sell themselves. The problem is shoes and sodas are impulse buys, and most of the time you only get them for a temporary sense of satisfaction. Once the lustful attraction wears off and the spark is gone, then some women wonder what went wrong. I always hear women say, “It’s cool because there are more fish in the sea”, but if you keep fishing with the same bait, you will naturally catch the same fish. One man’s trash will always be another man’s treasure, but why go through all of that heartache and pain? I think the Unknown Pimp Poet from the lower eastside said it best when he wrote:
“Playas want to get out of the game,
But renegades make it so easy to play,
Most say they delay,
Because it’s just too hard….. to walk away”
Personal confidence comes from the love and acceptance a person has for one’s self. You can’t count on anyone in this world but the Lord, and next in line should be you. You shouldn’t love anyone like you love the Lord, and next in line should be you. Confidence will empower you not to “stand for nothing and fall for everything”. Having these understandings and showing pride in the way you carry yourself creates a confidence that is seemingly irresistible to others.
Most importantly if you don’t do it for yourself do it for the children in your life that watch you. If you want a man to treat a woman correctly, make sure he’s raised by a strong confident woman. You want a man to know not to put his hands on a woman, make sure he sees what his mother would have done if a man put his hands on her. You want a man to communicate with a woman, sit him down as a child and communicate with him. Things that seem so simple we make so hard.
